Getting back into hobbies
Days 3-6 of productivity!
On Wednesday, I went to class (low bar, but it counts!). On Thursday, I applied for a passport! My dad gave me shit for not smiling because I "should smile" (I can't imagine why he cares)... anyway, I'll get the passport (and a valid ID for my SAT in March) in 2 weeks. I also submitted a short story for my creative writing class.
I drew for the first time in a long while yesterday. It wasn't very good, but if I actually get back into it, I'll get my years' worth of skill back in no time! I tried to go back to studying/conveying gesture (I don't want stiff poses to be an issue in my work), and while my poses are dynamic, the proportions, anatomy, and perspectives are off. I also want to be able to draw a little faster.
The things I sort of studied about gesture drawing are starting to come back to me (partially because I restarted reading Glenn Vilppu's Drawing Manual), like CSI lines, relaxing, and "no rules, only tools."
I'm constantly reminded that my past self would be so disappointed that I settled for a normal "loser" university instead of an Ivy League (or Stanford, or Northwestern, or even UW). I just have to keep in mind that I'll be getting the same degree either way (and also WWU is so much closer). I also can't decide between a BS in bio or a(n) MS. we'll see. I had also thought that I would move out of my parents' house as soon as I turned 18... that's not happening.
I learned that there are only 3 med schools in WA state, and 1 of them (one that grants DO's; Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) doesn't apply to me. so there are actually 2 relevant med schools. I hope they offer forensic and/or general pathology (whatever would help me become a medical examiner). If not, I'll try Canada or something. Maybe Germany, if I'm fluent enough. I want to get out of the US.
I would like to get a job in one of these places; cadaver lab, morgue, medical examiner's office, mortuary/funeral home, hospice, cemetery... I will also settle for a job in a nursing home as a CNA. Experience in a cadaver lab would likely be the most relevant to what I want to do, I imagine. PLUS it would make for pretty interesting posts.
I'm also trying out a different format for my Studyblr/Tumblr posts. I think it looks pretty neat.
